HRC (Human Rights Council)

The Human Rights Council (HRC) is one of the six main organs of the United Nations and is responsible for promoting and protecting human rights globally. It is composed of 47 member states, elected for three-year terms by the General Assembly, and meets regularly to address human rights issues, including violations and abuses. The HRC works through mechanisms such as the Universal Periodic Review, special rapporteurs, and country-specific resolutions to monitor and promote human rights practices. Its decisions are not legally binding but carry significant moral and political weight. The HRC plays a crucial role in advancing human rights, offering a platform for dialogue and action on critical global issues.
